HERRD KIDS
Learning, connection and opportunity — no matter where you live.
Many homeschooling families across Australia don’t have access to engaging workshops and activities in their local area — especially those in regional and rural communities, or families who travel. This program was built to close that gap. HERRD Kids is a live online learning portal offering engaging online homeschool classes, workshops and clubs for families across Australia.

Where It Started
HERRD Kids grew out of HERRD (Home Education Regional & Rural Discussion), the community Jillina started after homeschooling her own four kids in country Australia. Having chosen home education over distance education or boarding school, she knew firsthand how isolating it can feel when the nearest co-op or class is hours away. HERRD Kids is what that community grew into — one place for real, live learning, wherever you’re based.
One Membership, Full Access
Rather than paying per class, families get affordable full access to an entire term’s program for one membership price, including:
- Live workshops and clubs spanning science, coding, art, literacy, music, cooking and more
- Orientation and catch-up weeks, so new families start confidently, and nobody misses out
- Exclusive events that would be difficult for most families to organise on their own
- Optional resources for many sessions, like printable handouts and activity ideas, so the learning doesn’t stop when the workshop ends
A Taste Of What’s On
Each term is carefully curated to cover a broad range of interests, keeping the portal dynamic and fresh while bringing back crowd favourites.
Live & On-Demand Workshops
HERRD Kids engages with respected educators to bring specialist-led workshops straight to your home — think Story Factory for creative writing, Australian Environmental Education for nature and sustainability, Mind Stretchers for science, Code Club Australia for coding, artist-teacher Sahra Raward for art and more. Presenters vary each term, so it’s worth checking the current program for what’s on now.
Learning Clubs
Regular clubs like Code Club, Sketch Wednesday, and LEGO Legends give kids something to look forward to each week — building confidence and a sense of belonging. Younger siblings aren’t left out either — our Joeys group (Prep–Year 2) offers simplified activities and printables inspired by the older programs so the whole family can join in.

Built To Fit Real Homeschooling Life
Every home education journey looks different, and HERRD Kids is designed to slot into any of them. Families use the portal as much or as little as suits their week, with some recordings and catch-up options built in for exactly that reason.
What Families Are Saying
“Our son recently participated in the HERRD platform and absolutely loved it. The engaging lessons, wonderful interactions, and supportive environment made learning enjoyable and something he looked forward to each week. The platform itself is beautifully designed and easy to use, creating a welcoming space for children to connect and learn. We saw a noticeable boost in our son’s confidence over the term, and we are so grateful for the opportunities HERRD provides to homeschooling families.”— Jessica K
“Why we keep coming back: the kids love it. They really enjoy the workshops, it’s easy to fit into homeschool life, and it introduces topics that spark their interest.”— Tamara M

Frequently Asked Questions
Most workshops are designed for primary (Years 3+) through to high school students, with some activities for younger siblings. Each workshop lists a recommended age range — children can join an older or younger group if needed; just keep in mind that the content is tailored to that age range. Some workshops are high school only.
Most workshops are live and interactive. Many are recorded for later viewing, with some exceptions: Sketch Wednesday, LEGO Legends, Book Club, and Story Factory are not recorded to protect participants’ privacy. Recording details are published each term before sign-up.
