Australian Homeschool Maths That Makes Sense

Milestone Maths is an Australian print-based maths program developed by Australian homeschool mum of 20 years, Kathy Gonzalez. When she couldn’t find suitable Australian-based resources, Kathy began writing worksheets for her youngest son. Before long, she realised that other families could benefit from the same approach and Milestone Maths was born.

What Makes Milestone Maths Different?

Mastery-Spiral Hybrid: Milestone Maths combines the advantages of both approaches. New ideas are taught thoroughly before moving on, then reviewed systematically so children can develop deep understanding without forgetting previously learned skills.
Open and Go: Self-contained student workbooks minimise preparation and teaching time while encouraging children to develop independence.
Designed for Diverse Learners: Written by an experienced tutor, with clear explanations, hands-on learning and a clean layout designed to reduce unnecessary friction.
Conceptual & Practical: Milestone Maths focuses on understanding why maths works, not simply memorising procedures, with puzzles, activities and real-world applications woven throughout the program.
Portable & Screen-Free: Printed, lay-flat spiral-bound workbooks make maths easy to take anywhere — including the car, the campsite or the kitchen table.
Growing with Your Family: New levels are being developed each year, with the long-term goal of providing a complete K–12 maths pathway.

Meet The Author

Kathy Gonzalez is the homeschool mum, teacher and engineer behind Milestone Learning. She has been teaching and tutoring since the 1980s, from tutoring her high-school peers and lecturing university students to working one-on-one with young children and tutoring students with diverse learning needs.

Kathy holds a PhD in Computer Engineering and has spent more than 20 years homeschooling her own children. Her experience has convinced her that good educational resources don’t need to be complicated or designed for a classroom to be rigorous.

Milestone Learning grew out of that conviction. Kathy develops practical, carefully structured, screen-free resources that help children understand what they are learning and give parents confidence that the important foundations haven’t been skipped. Milestone Maths and Milestone English are the beginning of that work. Milestone Learning is committed to developing resources that make sense for Australian homeschooling families across all the major subject areas

How do the letters correspond to year levels?

Level A broadly aligns with Foundation Year in the Australian Curriculum, Level B with Year 1, and so on.
